Business Intelligence Analyst

Job Description:

The Business Intelligence (BI) Analyst will play a lead role across the full project lifecycle for BI projects, from analyzing reporting requirements to designing, developing, testing, deploying, training, and supporting users on reporting solutions that meet those requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in planning projects (e.g., setting goals, estimating effort, projecting schedule, etc)
  • Analyze, organize, and prioritize reporting requirements
  • Profile the data necessary to meet the reporting requirements, back to the data source
  • Design solutions to meet the reporting requirements
  • Design or assist in designing the data model necessary to meet the reporting requirements
  • Design or assist in the design of the mappings necessary to extract, transform, and load (ETL) the data into the data model necessary to meet the reporting requirements
  • Create training materials and conduct training on reporting solutions
  • Create documentation to establish requirements traceability and help the user community

Critical Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 2-4 years creating solutions to support complex information analysis.
  • Proficiency with Business Objects XI R2 (e.g., Web Intelligence, Crystal Reports, etc)
  • Proficiency with SQL
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship management skills

Valuable Qualifications:

  • Proficiency with data modeling
  • Proficiency with data integration (e.g., Informatica extract, transform, and load (ETL) tool)
  • Proficiency with the full Business Objects Tool Suite, to include XI 3.x, Xcelsius (advanced visualization tool), Widgets, Live Office, Dashboards, Subscription/Email engine, etc.
  • Proficiency integrating Business Objects with Microsoft SharePoint 2007, for display in portal
  • Proficiency integrating Business Objects with Microsoft Active Directory, for single sign-on
  • Familiarity/Exposure with other BI tools (OBIEE, Hyperion, Cognos, Microstrategy, etc.)
  • Proficiency with performance tuning (e.g., database indexing, )
  • Proficiency with HR subject matter (e.g., recruiting, staffing, benefits, compensation, etc)
  • Familiarity with HR systems, namely PeopleSoft 8.9, 9.0, and/or 9.1
  • Proficiency with migration (e.g., promotion from development to test to production)

Education/Clearance Requirements:

  • BA or BS in Computer Science, MIS, Mathematics or other analytical or technological field
  • Must be a U.S. citizen and currently hold or be eligible to obtain and maintain a security clearance
